Who are we looking for?

We are currently looking for an experienced Senior Port Planner to work in one of our offices in the West Regi on ( CA, AZ, OR, WA), or in the Southeast Region (FL, MA, GA, SC, IL, MD) This position will focus on facility planning for a wide range of public port authorities, private marine terminal operators, and potentially other public / private clients. The successful candidate will play a vital role within the GHD Maritime and Coastal team across North America.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in :

  • Prepare and / or assist with proposal development for new port planning opportunities
  • Provide technical expertise related to the planning of marine cargo (container, bulk, break-bulk, ro-ro), cruise (ocean, river) and energy (petroleum, LNG, hydrogen) facilities
  • Manage port planning teams and contracts, as appropriate, under the general guidance of GHD's Maritime and Coastal Planning Lead
  • Identify, collect, interpret, and organize a variety of industry and other relevant data in multiple formats
  • Independently conduct research, analyses and studies in support of port planning projects
  • Provide general planning support as needed for GHD engineering design and other projects
  • Coordinate with public and private clients, stakeholders, internal and external engineering and environmental specialists, technical subconsultants and relevant regulatory agencies and / or governing bodies
  • Develop project scope, schedule, budgets and perform project management tasks
  • Participate in developing new areas of business and expanding existing areas of business to new clients and geographical areas as appropriate
  • Maintain positive relations with existing clients in key markets
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to young professional staff
  • Perform other project or non-project related tasks as required and appropriate for the role

What you will bring to the team :

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in planning, environmental sciences, engineering, geography, public administration, or a closely related field; professional certifications are a plus
  • Minimum 10 years of experience providing most or all essential duties and responsibilities noted above; experience working with or for public port authorities and / or marine terminal operators is preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical, organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong work ethic, team player, and ability to navigate multiple clients / projects or issues simultaneously
  • Commitment to producing quality work within established budgets and schedules
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

    Salary Range : $132,000 - $198,000 based on location and experience.
