Summary Objective

The purpose of this position is to coordinate training division activities including scheduling, communication, training record maintenance, and assignment of work. Plan, organize, coordinate, schedule and conduct training programs, lectures, classes, seminars, workshops and conferences.

This class works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.

Examples of Duties

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.

  • Consults with staff to discuss training needs and develops training schedules to ensure compliance with policy, federal, state and local program requirements.
  • Prepares correspondence, maintains databases, records and files, and completes special projects.
  • Represents the department to internal and external agencies to coordinate, explain and discuss programs and services.
  • Schedules and conducts new employee onboarding and other training sessions for employees.
  • Research and compiles information, prepares training materials, and submits reports.
  • Provides technical assistance and instruction and explains policies and procedures regarding training, ethics and performance evaluations.
  • Maintains a library of books, publications, and audiovisual materials and serves as a resource on staff development.
  • Evaluates training needs assessments and coordinates the development of training programs.
  • Participates in policy formulation.
  • Trains personnel in all aspects of the work.
  • Performs related work as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Journalism, Business or Public Administration or related discipline.
  • One (1) year of employee or public teaching, training, instruction or education; or writing training manuals or literature experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
