Job description

Legal Assistant / Paralegal

We are excited to share an opportunity with one of our valued clients, a well-established and growing full-service law firm, to hire a Paralegal (Employment & Labor) for their dynamic legal team.

In this role, the selected candidate will support both employers and employees on a range of legal matters, including litigation, compliance, and advisory services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in employment law, excellent organizational and research skills, and the ability to build rapport with clients in a fast-paced legal environment.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Collaborate with the Partner-Director of Employment Law to represent clients in litigation and proceedings before federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including employment agreements, contracts, policies, and employee handbooks.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare discovery documents to support litigation efforts.
  • Act as a client-facing liaison, providing guidance on compliance and employment law matters.
  • Coordinate with agencies such as the Department of Labor and handle communication with opposing counsel.
  • Manage administrative tasks, including calendaring deadlines, preparing retainers, scheduling meetings, and managing case files.
  • Assist in preparing bills, processing time entries, and ensuring all billing is completed on schedule.
  • Support partner in litigating cases involving Title VII, FLSA, ADEA, FMLA, and other state and federal employment laws.

Qualifications :

  • 2-3 years of experience in employment and labor law or related fields.
  • Strong knowledge of state and federal laws, including Title VII, FLSA, ADEA, FMLA, and New York labor laws.
  • Proficient in drafting legal documents and conducting detailed research.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
