The School Counselor at Westside Atlanta Charter School will play a crucial role in fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for students, families, and the school community. Westside Atlanta Charter School - School Counselor Job Description

  • Provide support to students by addressing personal issues related to school or home, ensuring every student has the opportunity to talk with counselors.
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, administrators, and community partners to foster a sense of belonging within the school community.
  • Conduct classroom lessons and facilitate small group discussions on topics such as career exploration, bullying, identity, family changes, grief, and friendship skills.
  • Manage and coordinate school-wide programs, including Red Ribbon Week, Kindness Week, and various Career Activities.
  • Professional Responsibilities

  • Stay updated on current research-based practices and implement strategies to enhance instructional effectiveness in accordance with the ASCA National Model.
  • Actively engage in faculty meetings, district-level discussions, school board meetings, and professional development to promote holistic student growth and academic excellence.
  • Build collaborative relationships with colleagues to plan and assess student-centered learning activities, ensuring alignment of instructional objectives across grades and subjects while fostering a culture of curiosity and academic achievement.
  • Requirements

  • Educational Qualifications :
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in school counseling.
  • Current school counselor certification in Georgia.
