Position Summary
Missionwell is looking for a talented, motivated individual to join our team as a Senior Accountant. The Senior Accountant will lead all day-to-day finance operations for several non-profit organizations, including functional responsibility for accounts payable, accounts receivable, budget creation, audit leadership, and presenting financial statements to board of directors. The Senior Accountant will ensure that Missionwell has the systems and procedures in place to support effective accounting and conduct flawless audits. The Senior Accountant will work closely with accountants and bookkeepers to educate them regarding finance and accounting procedures and to provide timely financial reporting of results against budget.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead a team of accountants and accounting support staff; Provide team leadership, development planning, coaching and performance management to motivate and inspire team members.
- Oversees all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements
- Maintains internal controls and safeguards accurate receipt and recording of revenue, costs, and program budgets in QuickBooks Online and Bill.com
- Manages organizational cash flow including effective forecasting by working in partnership with Executive Directors to anticipate changes in revenue and expense against budget
- Leads all audit activity with auditors
- Consistently analyzes financial data and presents financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicates monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitors progress and changes keeping senior leadership aware of the organization's financial status
- Assists COO with annual budgeting and planning process
- Supports the COO in preparation for internal senior leadership meetings, including flagging issues and trends in financial operating and delivery, as well as client cash flow issues
- Oversees all required grants accounting; ensures that expenditures are consistently aligned with grant and program budgets throughout the grant / fund period; collates necessary financial reports for all government, corporate, and foundation grants
- Leverages strengths of the current finance team members, helps to clarify roles and responsibilities and develops and implements training programs to maximize and reach optimal individual and organizational goals
- Provides leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization; creates and promotes a positive and supportive work environment
- Involved in strategic planning, designing financial policies and procedures, and providing guidance within GAAP
- Performs all other duties assigned by direct supervisor or members of the leadership team

Qualifications
Experienced leader with at least five years of accounting and finance experience, ideally in a complex nonprofit that has multiple programsMinimum of a BA in accounting or finance with expert understanding of GAAP standardsExpert knowledge of QuickBooks OnlineWorking Conditions and Physical Requirements

Work at a desk in an office or home-office setting; Sit at an office desk for extended periods of time.Work for extended periods of time at a computer, requiring the ability to send and receive information with necessary optical, auditory, and manual dexterity.Use a keyboard and mouse to enter, retrieve or transfer words or data information and / or move from screen to screen on the computer to view information.Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills; comprehend and speak English.Display the reading skills necessary to proofread written material.Perform basic mathematical calculations.The position is hybrid based in Pasadena, CA with a laptop and internet allowance provided.
