Cochran's Kansas City, Missouri location is looking for an experienced Sr. Engineer- Public Works .
Who are we looking for? The Senior Engineer – Public Works is responsible for overseeing the planning, design, and implementation of municipal infrastructure projects, including roads, drainage systems, water and sewer networks, and other public facilities. This role involves leading engineering teams, ensuring compliance with local and federal regulations, managing budgets, and coordinating with various stakeholders to deliver high-quality public works projects.
Key Responsibilities :
Project Management & Engineering Oversight :
- Lead and oversee the design, development, and implementation of public infrastructure projects
- Conduct feasibility studies, cost estimates, and engineering analyses
- Prepare and review engineering plans, specifications, and reports
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety and environmental regulations
- Provide technical guidance and support to project engineers and project teams
Regulatory Compliance & Permitting :
Ensure all projects comply with local, state, and federal regulationsObtain necessary permits and approvals from government agenciesReview and interpret engineering codes, ordinances, and policies related to public worksStakeholder Coordination & Communication :
Collaborate with city officials, contractors, consultants, and the public to ensure effective project executionRepresent Cochran in meetings, hearings, and community engagement initiativesAddress inquiries and concerns regarding infrastructure projects and servicesBudgeting & Contract Management :
Develop project budgets and monitor expendituresPrepare bid documents, contracts, and procurement plansOversee contractor performance and ensure compliance with contract termsMaintenance & Infrastructure Improvement :
Evaluate existing public infrastructure and recommend upgrades or repairsImplement asset management strategies for long-term infrastructure sustainabilityDevelop and enforce maintenance standards for public works facilitiesQualifications & Requirements :
Education & Experience :
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related fieldA minimum of 5-10 years of engineering experience in public works or municipal infrastructureProfessional Engineer (PE) license, requiredSkills & Competencies :
Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction methods, and project managementProficiency in CAD software, GIS mapping, and engineering analysis toolsExcellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilitiesStrong communication and interpersonal skills for working with diverse stakeholdersAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing prioritiesExcellent benefits :
