Description :

Bay Cities Metal Products is looking for a skilled Electrical Engineer to oversee and optimize the electrical and automation systems in our sheet metal manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for designing, analyzing, and improving machinery, ensuring efficiency, reliability, and compliance with safety standards. The ideal candidate has a strong background in electrical and mechanical systems, automation, and maintenance within an industrial setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Ensuring that electrical and mechanical equipment meets key performance indicators for safety, equipment availability, maintenance compliance, and project adherence.
  • Designing and analyzing mechanical components and systems using SolidWorks and AutoCad.
  • Analyzing low to median voltage electrical control systems to ensure safety and efficiency, detecting faults and identifying root causes of equipment malfunctions, and coordinating resources for required equipment repairs.
  • Developing and implementing standard procedures for equipment monitoring.
  • Improving electrical control systems to enhance efficiency and reduce failures.
  • Planning and implementing preventive and corrective maintenance for machinery and auxiliary equipment, including 3-phase and I-phase motors and servomotors.
  • Implementing, troubleshooting and managing engineering automation systems utilizing Programmable Logic Controllers ("PLCs"), including SIEMENS S7-l 200, OMRON C200HS, LOGO 8 SIEMENS, and LOGO IDEC.
  • Using DCS800, ACS800-880, Yasakawa, and Eaton MNX34 drives to enable efficient management and control of machinery operations.
  • Utilizing Total Productive Maintenance ("TPM") methodologies to optimize machinery performance and minimize downtime as part of proactive maintenance strategies.
  • Training workers in best practices and safety procedures.

Requirements :

Education and Experience :

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5 years or more of experience in electrical engineering, industrial automation, or machinery maintenance.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Skills and Competencies :

  • Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems in industrial manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and PLC programming.
  • Experience with low- and medium-voltage control systems and troubleshooting electrical faults.
  • Ability to analyze and improve automation processes for increased efficiency.
  • Familiarity with motor controls, servomotors, and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
  • Understanding of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) strategies.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Independently perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Ability to effectively train and mentor workers on best practices, safety procedures, and proper equipment usage.
  • Work Environment

    This position is in a manufacturing setting with exposure to loud machinery, moving equipment, and varying temperatures. The work environment requires adherence to safety protocols. The position involves working near mechanical equipment, handling tools, and occasionally working in confined spaces or elevated areas.

    Physical Demands :

    The role requires the ability to handle various physical demands, including :

  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry items up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent walking, bending, standing, kneeling.
  • Must be able to handle the use of hand and power tools and have the physical dexterity to handle small parts.
  • Must be able to work in elevated, confined, or hard-to-reach areas during repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures, including heat, cold, and humidity.
  • Strict adherence to company safety protocols, including the use of proper lifting techniques and following safety procedures when operating tools, machinery, and handling equipment.
  • Compensation :

    This position is exempt and complies with California's wage and hour laws. Compensation for this role ranges from $72,000 - $ 80,000 in yearly salary, depending on experience and qualifications.
