Essential Functions
The University of Texas Permian Basin’s Information Technology Services (ITS) Office welcomes applicants for the position of Business Analyst - Finance. As an IT Business Analyst collaborating with the Finance and Purchasing departments, your role is instrumental in aligning technological solutions with business objectives. Your primary duties involve conducting thorough analyses of financial and purchasing processes, identifying opportunities for optimization and efficiency, and translating business requirements into comprehensive technical specifications.
Through close collaboration with stakeholders, you will facilitate communication between the IT team and the Finance and Purchasing departments, ensuring a shared understanding of goals and challenges. Data analysis will be a key aspect of your responsibilities, enabling informed decision-making and strategic planning. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in change management, guiding the implementation of new IT solutions, and providing ongoing support to ensure successful integration and user adoption. Your ability to bridge the gap between technology and business needs will be essential in driving innovation, improving processes, and contributing to the overall success of the Finance and Purchasing departments.
1. Works with customers and IT teams to develop requirements, maintain application configuration, test, and supports and provide expert analysis for the PeopleSoft software module(s). Provides functional support and operational knowledge to lead the design, configuration and implementation of the application software modules or database and / or technical components.
2. Monitors records systems to ensure the integrity of the data. Identifies data issues within the PeopleSoft (FMS) software and resolves issues in a timely manner.
3. Responds to standard information requests; answer questions and finds solutions to unusual system problems. Assist with the creation and delivery of end-user training and training materials. Provides initial post implementation support to end users on production system.
4. Responsible for the test scenarios / scripts, coordinating testing efforts, participates in testing of designed solution and verify / validate results of conversion efforts and testing results.
Required Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or other related field.
2. Two (2) years working experience in a finance related role.
3. Ability to design / review test cases, process change requests, and manage a project’s scope and deployment.
4. Working knowledge of PeopleSoft. Experience with Microsoft Office, SQL and Power BI.
5. Ability to apply technical judgement, solve a wide range of problems, develop practicable solutions, and apply consultative skills to assess user needs and provide support.
6. Ability to analyze data requirements and access methods; coordinate data exchanges and conversions; integrate multiple applications / systems.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office. Advanced knowledge of large database systems (specifically Motivated to stay current with emerging technologies to recommend / implement improvements.
2. Provides ERP software expertise and operational knowledge to help in conducting fit-gap analysis; evaluation of designs and processes to make best practice decisions.
3. Facilitates decision-making to execute projects and contributes to the creation of accurate project plans.
4. Maintains positive working relationships with faculty and staff to foster collaboration in support of student learning and success.
5. Ability to evaluate current processes and determine how to work most efficiently in PeopleSoft. Ability to make recommendations and assist in implementing changes.
6. Confers regularly with supervisor, University personnel, and external organizations / individuals to exchange information and resolve problems.
7. Ability to balance priorities, accomplish assigned tasks within required time frames and shift between tasks without loss of continuity.
8. Must express ideas effectively in oral and written form. Competence to compose and edit correspondence, proposals and reports that may require the ability to relay complex or adverse information.
