Position Overview :

We are seeking a Fire Suppression Design Engineer to join our team in Harrison, OH . This role involves designing special hazard fire suppression and fire alarm systems , ensuring compliance with local, national, and manufacturer requirements. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in fire protection design, with expertise in AutoCAD and a desire to obtain NICET certification .

We are open to hiring either a Senior Level or Junior Level candidate depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities :

  • System Design and Compliance :

Design life safety and asset protection systems using AutoCAD and proprietary software.

  • Ensure designs adhere to local, national, and manufacturer requirements.
  • Create and update project-specific drawings and operation manuals.
  • Field Collaboration :

    • Survey job sites to ensure proper system design and installation.

  • Direct contractors on system installation and operation.
  • Project Implementation :

    • Read, review, and implement customer-supplied project specifications.

  • Assist with system startups , commissioning, and inspections when required.
  • Training and Continued Education :

    • Attend manufacturer training classes and continued education programs.

  • Stay updated on industry standards and advancements.
  • Process Improvement and Support :

    • Assist office staff with engineering-related tasks, including process improvements.

  • Collaborate with teams to enhance system performance and project outcomes.

    • Required Skills and Qualifications :

  • Experience :

    • 2+ years of experience in the fire protection industry .

  • Proven experience in designing special hazard fire suppression and fire alarm systems (not limited to sprinkler systems).
  • Technical Skills :

    • Proficient in AutoCAD 2D drafting .

  • Knowledge and experience with 3D design software .
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Soft Skills :

    • Strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively.
  • Desire to learn industry standards and improve processes.

    • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Education : Bachelors degree in a relevant field.
  • Certifications : NICET certification or willingness to obtain it.

    • Additional Notes :

  • Not a Fit : Candidates with exclusive experience in sprinkler (water) design will not be considered.
  • Work Environment : The position is fully on-site in Harrison, OH.
