Job Summary :
The Nurse Practitioner - Cardiology is a licensed, certified, non-physician healthcare provider who actively renders direct patient care and possesses delegated prescriptive authority.
This role provides medical care based upon the scope of practice as delineated by the supervising physician. The Advanced Practice Provider works in a specialty clinic, may specialize in various medical fields, including Palliative Care, Pulmonary, Infectious Disease, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Cardiology, Dermatology, Urology, Nephrology, Neurology, Hematology, Oncology, Allergy and Immunology, Rheumatology or other medical specialties.
Essential Functions :
- Assesses patients' physical and mental condition through comprehensive or problem-focused examinations and medical histories.
- Orders, collects, interprets, and evaluates laboratory and diagnostic tests to assess patient problems and health needs.
- Prescribes medical drug therapies, recommends treatments, and performs procedures according to approved protocols / policies, considering efficacy, safety, and cost.
- Develops and implements comprehensive patient treatment plans based on assessments, evidence-based medicine, standards of care, professional practice guidelines, and collaboration with physicians and other team members.
- Counsels patients and families about medical processes, health management, medication, nutrition, and health promotion.
- Maintains accurate records detailing patient treatment plans and outcomes, initiating timely consultation and referral when necessary.
- Provides consultation-level services for conditions / problems related to the provider's specialty and training.
- Manages patients in various healthcare settings beyond the primary clinic setting (e.g., inpatient, emergency services, procedural settings).
- Performs invasive procedures specific to scope of practice and competency as delegated by the supervising physician.
