Job Description

Under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, pharmacy technicians will assist pharmacists in preparation, distribution of medications and maintaining drug inventory in the outpatient pharmacy. Adheres to Federal, State and local laws and other regulatory requirements regarding pharmacy and institutional practice.

Performs related work rotating tours and shifts.

• Under pharmacist supervision, will rotate assignments, and tours to meet departmental needs.
• Ability to perform work accurately with attention to detail within specified time period.
• Able to communicate effectively (orally and in writing).
• Operate equipment properly. Troubleshoots automated dispensing systems as needed.
• Prepackage medications in appropriate containers for dispensing and for special patient needs.
• File prescriptions, daily dispensing log and other records.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. College courses desirable but not required.

Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certificate.
