Summary

Whatcom County Emergency Medical Services is seeking to hire certified Emergency Medical Services Evaluators (ESE) and CPR instructors (HSI Preferred) to create a pool of certified instructors to conduct EMS Evaluator Courses, CPR, and Stop the Bleed trainings, as needed, throughout 2025 and 2026.

Key Duties include :

  • Deliver engaging and effective instruction in the EMS Evaluator Course, CPR, Stop the Bleed, and other public-related courses.
  • Facilitate and evaluate skill stations, including setup and teardown.
  • Accurately compile and complete skill station paperwork.
  • Participate in scenario-based role plays for assessment simulations and provide constructive feedback to students.
  • Work collaboratively with the EMS Training Specialist to ensure high-quality instruction.

Length of Position : As needed, up to 30 hours per month. On-going through 2026.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.

Current Washington State Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Paramedic or equivalent certification.

Washington State EMS Evaluator (ESE) certification.

Certification as a CPR Instructor (HSI preferred).

Requires the ability to :

  • Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with County EMS providers, public and private officials, the public and other agency personnel, including hospital staff and administrators.
  • Organize and prioritize workload and work in a fast-paced, multi-agency environment.
  • Provide high-quality instruction and maintain a positive learning environment for a diverse group of students.
  • Deliver excellent customer service and maintain professional interactions with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain effective, ongoing communication with the EMS Training Specialist.
  • At its sole discretion, Whatcom County may consider combinations of education, experience, certifications, and training in lieu of specifically required qualifications contained herein.
