Job Title : Quality Control Chemist
Job Description
The facility focuses on manufacturing finished products such as hand sanitizers, soap, dish soap, nail polish remover, and other household cleaning products. This individual will be responsible for HPLC, LC, GC, and physical property testing including basic wet chemistry like viscosity and pH. The role involves prioritizing daily sample testing and performing various laboratory tests on bulk formula batches and line samples. Additionally, the individual will review compounding and laboratory records for accuracy and completeness, investigate customer complaints, OOS / OOT results, and implement corrective actions.
Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory analysis on incoming raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products per established procedures, including wet chemistry, GC, and HPLC.
- Utilize TOC testing; training will be provided if necessary.
- Prepare samples for chromatographic analysis and prepare standard and reagent solutions.
- Perform general housekeeping duties and sample raw materials per approved procedures.
- Coordinate information flow within the laboratory and to internal customers.
- Access, input, and retrieve information from the QC computer systems.
- Disposition of raw materials, process samples, and finished products for use or sale.
- Ensure all laboratory documentation meets GMP regulations for completeness and accuracy.
- Understand and follow safe procedures for processing, analyzing, and storing hazardous and / or flammable products and raw materials.
- Document deviations in performance not anticipated or indicated in test procedures.
- Understand QC and manufacturing processes and workflows, QC retain program, and documentation procedures.
- Work with minimal supervision and quickly re-prioritize work schedules.
- Perform routine GC and HPLC analysis, including integration and result calculations.
- Assist with OOS / OOT and customer complaint investigations.
- Assist with Method Development Protocols and requisite testing.
- Assist with IQ / OQ / PQ and instrument validation / calibration tasks.
- Assist with Method Transfer protocols and requisite testing.
- Assist with Annual / New Supplier Validations protocol, sample transfer, and testing process.
- Assist with SOP creation, review, and revision activities.
- Assist with Stability protocol and testing processes.
- Assist with supplies / services ordering process.
- Assist with contract manufacturing protocol and workflow.
- Assist with instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Perform routine tasks in the laboratory efficiently.
- Provide timely, accurate information to production personnel.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in HPLC, GC, and LC.Familiarity with GMP regulations in an industry setting (pharmaceutical or chemical industries preferred).Experience with wet chemistry and physical property testing, including pH, density, and viscosity.Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry (Master's level candidates are also welcome).Ability to thrive in a high throughput environment and perform repetitive testing quickly and accurately.Strong teamwork and communication skills, particularly for shift transitions.Capability to work independently with minimal oversight and problem-solving skills.Exposure to USP standards is advantageous.Additional Skills & Qualifications
