This Position is Contingent on Contract Award.

This position is in support of a proposed repatriation initiative.  The purpose of the facilities is to provide comprehensive care for migrant individuals who are awaiting reunification or repatriation.  This care will begin as soon as each occupant arrives at the facility and will last until their arranged departure. The comprehensive care includes but is not limited to initial screening and exams, identifications of prior conditions and allergies, day to day care of routine, urgent and emergent medical conditions.

The emergency room nurse will provide screening and urgent care to immigrant patients, addressing their medical needs while being sensitive to the cultural and emotional challenges they face. This role involves triaging patients, performing assessments, administering treatments, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the best outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough assessments and triage of patients presenting with various medical conditions.
  • Provide immediate and appropriate nursing care while ensuring a culturally sensitive approach to treatment.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, monitoring for effectiveness and adverse reactions.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Educate patients and their families about health conditions, treatment options, and follow-up care in an understandable manner.
  • Document all patient care activities accurately and promptly in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
  • Organize and participate in emergency response efforts, ensuring a safe environment.
  • Assist medical providers with medical procedures and treatments as allowed within licensed scope of work.
  • Assessment and documentation of the patient’s vital signs, chief complaint, medical history, prescribed medications.
  • Establish observable and documentable patient goals using care plans within NANDA.
  • Proactively and independently administer basic and urgent / emergent care, including but not limited to inserting catheters with blood specimen collection, urine collection and EKG’s, visual acuity, basic wound care, changing bandages or administering intravenous medications.
  • Provides support and education to help patients make responsible health decisions.
  • Maintains supply inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies.
  • Restocking clinical and provider areas once supplies are received.
  • Is accountable for maintaining and improving own physician knowledge and skill competence.
  • Provides patient care that promotes the safety and well-being of all patients in the clinic.
  • Supports the International Health and Medical Services philosophy, objectives and goals and Organization mission and vision.
  • Respects and supports patient rights.
  • Fosters constructive relationships as a team member within assigned department and with the members of other departments.
  • Maintains professional conduct.
  • Supports and enforces infection control policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Knowledge :

  • Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience in the past three years.
  • Emergency or Urgent Care experience preferred.
  • Experience working with US military healthcare regulations and standards of care preferred.
  • Experience working in austere environments preferred.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience Preferred :

    Experience working contract programs preferred.

    Education Required :

  • Current and unrestricted Nursing license from the State services performed.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
  • Proficiency in both English and Spanish is preferred.
  • Physical Demands

  • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
  • Will involve assisting in the lifting and moving of patients.
  • May require bending, stooping and lifting up to 35 lbs.
  • Other Special Qualifications :

  • Must be a US Citizen or possess a permanent resident card.
  • Current MRPT Clearance preferred.

    Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and / or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data.

    Compensation   Min : $30hr        Max : $70hr
