Basic Function Under the direction of the Sr. Director of IT Infrastructure, the Sr. Manager Information Technology is responsible for leading the client services and network teams. The incumbent will manage, maintain and deploy client and enterprise network technologies. Representative Duties

  • Supervise the Service Desk Manager and the operations of the Help Desk, Client Services, server and network support and Telecom areas. E
  • Provide general guidelines, create and manage policies within these areas. This position should ensure consistent communication among staff and clients. E
  • Troubleshoot server and network problems as they arise. E
  • Respond to user requests for assistance and malfunction correction : serve as a technical resource to users, providing technical information and assistance. E

Install, maintain and upgrade PC servers. E

  • Install and configure various network equipment; such as routers, switches, hubs and access points. E
  • Troubleshoot server and network problems as they arise. E

  • Operate a variety of microcomputers, and peripheral equipment such as printers, hardware and software diagnostic tools and appropriate utilities. E

  • Advanced knowledge of Windows server OS and other network operating systems
  • Layer-2 and layer-3 networking

  • Perform specialized duties in the maintenance of microcomputer hardware

  • Serve as a technical resource to users in the use of microcomputers and related equipment
  • Perform troubleshooting in person and over the phone
  • Perform basic diagnostic checks and take appropriate corrective action
  • Read, interpret and apply detailed and technical manuals and oral instructions
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
  • Operate computers and peripheral equipment properly and efficiently
  • Work independently with little direction
  • Meet schedules and timelines
  • Supervise staff and facilitate meetings
  • Minimum Qualifications Any combination equivalent to : in Computer Science or related degree and six years of experience managing Windows or Linux servers, storage, VMs, Layer-2 and Layer-3 networking equipment, and four years of supervisory experience. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience at Associate Director or Director level within an academic institution
