Description

The J. Spencer and Patricia Standish Library seeks applicants for a full-time, 12-month, library faculty position at the rank of Assistant Librarian, Continuing Appointment track. The Systems Librarian primarily serves as lead administrator for the library services platform, discovery system, information management systems, and digital asset management systems, leading configuration, user administration, and policy creation across teams. This position also oversees digitization projects and contributes to information literacy instruction and research / reference services.

Systems Librarian Primary Duties

  • Provide support, troubleshooting, training, and guidance for staff for the library ILS (currently Alma) and related library systems. Support analytics and queries to generate insight into library materials, usage, circulation, and space.
  • Utilizes a comprehensive understanding of library operations in order to configure the ILS and related systems.
  • Develops integrations between library systems such as Primo, ContentDM and LibGuides to support discovery and enhance the user experience.
  • Serves as principal technical liaison with campus representatives and vendors for library discovery and related systems.
  • Supports integration of interlibrary loan and document delivery management systems (currently Tipasa / ReShare / Alma Resource Sharing.)
  • Explores, evaluates, recommends, and implements new technologies to advance library strategic goals and enhance user experience.
  • Plans and leads system migrations for Library software; implements new system features as they become available
  • Oversees work in the Digital Scholarship Lab.
  • Collaborates closely with colleagues within the library, in Information Technology Services and across campus on library systems and services. Serves on a variety of working groups and cross-functional teams that focus on discovery of and access to library and information resources, as well as broader committees and working groups across the library's partnerships.
  • Participates in the overall development of the library's efforts to provide expertise, space, resources, and services for research, access to, and creation of information to support our community.
  • Serves as part of a technology team and back up to the resource management Librarians.

Other duties as a member of the Library Faculty :

  • Provide research assistance and advising to students and faculty through regular participation in the reference desk schedule as well as research consultations to individual students.
  • Serve as a library liaison to assigned academic department for instruction, collection development and specialized library services.
  • Provide information literacy instruction through course-related classroom presentation and exercises and other workshops.
  • Serve on the Library Management Team.
  • Meet the Library Faculty requirements delineated in the Faculty Handbook and departmental standards regarding teaching and other Library Faculty responsibilities to support academic programs, service to the College and community, and contribution to the profession.
  • Salary : $75,890.00

  • Masters in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited institution.

  • Experience with ILS management / administration.
  • Experience administering information management systems such as ContentDM, ArchivesSpace, digital asset management systems, and / or institutional repositories.
  • Experience in supporting library-specific applications, software (e.g., EZProxy, ILLIAD, Tipasa), and equipment, preferably in an academic library setting.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience with Ex Libris Alma system administration. Alma Administrator Certification or willingness to be certified within the first month of employment is necessary.
  • Experience as a Systems Librarian in an academic library setting.
  • A background screening will be required.
