This role is based in Charlotte, NC and offers a hybrid work schedule Responsibilities : Prepare and file state and local sales and use tax returns, including compilation and analysis of financial dataMaintain and update sales tax return worksheets and proceduresResearch and resolve general ledger account variances with internal customersReconcile sales and use tax general ledger accounts on a monthly basisRespond to sales tax inquiries raised by internal customers and taxing jurisdictionsRegister, renew and cancel state, county, city and local sales tax permitsDevelop and maintain sales tax knowledge relating to laws and regulations in assigned statesIdentify process improvements and cost savings opportunitiesAssist with special projects as assigned Qualifications : 4-year degree in Accounting or Tax required CPA or CMI certification preferred, or CPA / CMI candidate preferred2 to 5+ years multi-state sales and use tax compliance experience required. Experience with food / vending or support services industry preferredProficient with Microsoft Office required, especially Excel, Access is idealExperience with SAP and sales tax compliance software preferredStrong accounting and analytical skillsAbility to identify trends through data analytics and work ordersAbility to independently research issues and reach a resolution in all casesMust be a detail-oriented, team player with a strong work ethicExcellent interpersonal and written communication skillsExcellent organizational skills and ability to manage large amounts of electronic dataAbility to work in a fast paced environment with ability to adjust to shifting prioritiesAbility to work extended hours as required to meet internal and external deadlinesApply to Compass Group todayClick here to Learn More about the Compass StoryCompass Group is an equal opportunity employer.
