Job Description
Responsible for serving as a subject matter expert to employees, managers, benefits and leave of absence team on benefits policies and processes including : medical, dental, life, disability, Flexible Spending, Health Savings, 401(k) and voluntary ancillary products. Lead the Leave of Absence team concerning leave of absence related tasks. Coordinate with other departments (Risk Management, Risk, HR Business Partners, legal counsel) to ensure appropriate actions related to cases.
Essential Job Duties :
- Supervise the day to day operations to ensure the Leave of Absence team is providing timely and accurate information in compliance with all federal laws, company policies and procedures for all employees and their managers' inquiries regarding leave of absence and benefit programs.
- Lead and assist in implementing programs related to Leave of Absence.
- Create and send appropriate letters / notices.
- Manage reporting metrics and analytics for all leave cases.
- Communicate with the employee, supervisor and Human Resource Manager regarding a leave of absence.
- Approval or denial of leave and notification and resolution once leave is exhausted.
- Track leaves of absence efficiently by using Leave of Absence module as well as working with payroll regarding leaves of absence, including administration of running report via timekeeper and payroll portal. Track hours used / taken and verifying pay for employee is accurate and correct.
- Liaison with medical, legal, human resources, risk management, and legal experts in the assessment of claims.
- Properly administer benefits according to the status of an employee’s leave of absence.
- Establish service level commitments ensuring timely communication and information flow to meet vendor timelines and deadlines.
- Oversee benefits administration for escalated cases; answer questions and resolve issues of a complex or technical nature.
- Perform routine audits of benefits files to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Assist with legal compliance with ERISA, FMLA, ADA, DOL and IRS, maintaining and updating benefits policies, procedures and communication materials.
- Work closely with management to ensure all benefit plans are developed and administered in accordance with strategic business plans and objectives.
- Take an active role in improving the department. Assists team in developing and sharpening skills. Address department issues needing attention. Identify methods for better work performance and ways to improve customer service, etc.
- Supervise the annual benefits open enrollment process, including communication, employee education, and technology support.
- Assist in managing relationships with benefits vendors, including insurance providers, and wellness program providers.
- Conduct benefits-related education sessions and training programs for employees and provide ongoing communication to keep employees informed about changes and updates to benefits programs.
- Assume other duties as assigned.

Supervise the work of others, including planning, assigning and scheduling work, reviewing work and ensuring quality standards, training staff and overseeing productivity. May offer recommendations for hiring, termination and pay adjustments, but do not have final responsibility for making these decisionsRequirements
Education & Experience :
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.3 years+ in specialized profession or equivalent; Proficient in specialty including prior senior lead experience.Preferred Requirements :
Certification in Benefits (CBP, CEBS, GBA).Knowledge / Skills / Abilities :
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and to draw and interpret graphs.Frequent use of Outlook, Word, Excel, graphics, etc. Ability to create, maintain and incorporate functions into Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, databases, and Powerpoint presentations to support business objectives.Regularly uses moderately complex oral and written skills.
