General Summary
The Academic Human Resources Generalist is responsible for supporting all aspects of human resources operations. With a focus on promoting a positive client-centered Academic Human Resources department and organizational culture, the AHR Generalist will independently coordinate, plan and prioritize tasks according to time constraints and deadlines.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications :
Knowledge of human resources management as well as employment procedures and practices and related federal & state laws, as typically acquired by the completion of a bachelor's degree in Business Administration majoring in Human Resources Management, Organization Development, or a related field or any equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Three years of professional Human Resources work experience is required (Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered).
High degree of discretion when dealing with confidential information is required.
Effective conflict management skills are required (e.g. diffuse emotionally charged situations, clearly identify issues and clearly communicate procedures for resolving issues, work with the customer to develop a resolution acceptable to the customer and the work unit).
Personal computing skills, including working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database management software applications are required.
Excellent customer service, critical thinking / problem solving, data analysis, written and interpersonal communication skills are required.
Highly organized; responsible and responsive; able to manage many projects with competing priorities and deadlines; exhibit follow-through in accomplishing tasks is required.
Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws is required.
Exemplary, regular, and predictable attendance is required.
Preferred Qualifications :
Knowledge of Google Suite (Docs, Sheets and Forms), Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Adobe and Crystal Reports is preferred.
Experience in a higher education / union environment is preferred.
