The Navigator, United Way is responsible for supporting activities necessary to successfully assist ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) community members in Harris County achieve their resiliency goals. A successful applicant will be culturally and linguistically competent, will have a working knowledge of community resources available in the area, and will have experience as a community organizer, advocate, case manager or volunteer. The Navigator will primarily support the clients of community organizations external to Catholic Charities.

What you Deliver

  • Assist clients to access, apply for, and obtain services, and programs.
  • Engage and collaborate with area non-profits, governmental entities, and other regional and national stakeholders.
  • Represent the CCGH at meetings and events for networking, partnership building, collaboration and referrals.
  • Advocate for refugees, immigrants, underserved residents, and ALICE community members to have equity of access to services.
  • Assume the role of system coordinator and resilience-building expert.
  • Prepare and submit reports as required.
  • Ensure compliance with United Way Second Century Vision expectations for Navigation services

Qualifications

The Expertise We're Looking For

  • Associate Degree
  • One (1) year of experience working in areas of resiliency, disaster recovery, outreach, advocacy and / or social services
  • Valid Texas Driver's License

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Capacity to work flexible hours
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills
  • Case file management experience
  • Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite applications other job-related applications
  • Ability to communicate and respond to questions in a professional and knowledgeable manner
  • Consistently demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and a creative approach for generating new ideas with the principles of continuous improvement
  • Ability to follow specific instructions and adhere to safety guidelines
  • Must possess the capacity, technology, and connectivity to work remotely
  • A demonstrated commitment to humanitarian issues, particularly as related to refugees, and fostering a welcoming community.
