Alderson Loop is seeking an Operations Research Data Scientist to join a project with an enterprise utility / energy organization. This role focuses on mathematical optimization and mixed integer programming to solve complex supply chain problems. Unlike traditional data science roles, this position does not involve machine learning or computer vision but emphasizes optimization, simulation, and decision-support tools.
Key Responsibilities :
Develop Optimization Models :
Build and maintain simulation and optimization models to address evolving supply chain challenges.
Decision-Support Tools :
Create tools that influence supply chain strategy in collaboration with software engineers and data engineers.
Collaboration :
Work closely with cross-functional teams to enhance operational efficiency and profitability.
Model Maintenance & Data Preparation :
Support and update existing models and tools owned by the team.
Key Skills :
Mathematical Optimization :
Expertise in mixed integer programming (MIP) and linear programming is critical.
Software Skills :
Strong command of R and / or Python for data analysis and model development.
Analytical Skills :
Strong ability to analyze complex data sets and derive actionable insights.
Qualifications : Education :
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (e.g., Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Management Science, or a related field) is required.
Experience :
1–3 years of industry experience in optimization modeling and Monte Carlo simulations.
