Overview
The goal of the National Program and Outreach department is to connect CFR’s research and analysis with constituents of four communities in the United States : college and university educators and students; religious leaders; state and local officials; and local journalists—and to energize foreign policy discussions with CFR members based outside of New York and Washington, DC, areas.
Under the supervision of the vice president and director of the National Program and Outreach department and a program coordinator, the program assistant will support CFR Outreach efforts.
The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to) :
- Supporting planning, implementation, and follow-up for Outreach initiative events with an emphasis on the Religion and Foreign Policy program
- Assisting with coordinating virtual and in-person events, including brainstorming relevant foreign policy topics, preparing invitations, making travel arrangements, helping prepare background materials for distribution, and providing other logistical support
- Helping to maintain CFR’s database of Outreach contacts, including updating contact information and profiles, tracking relevant interactions, and logging responses to event invitations
- Drafting social media platform messaging to raise the visibility of CFR’s Outreach initiatives
- Updating CFR’s Outreach webpage
- Contributing to reports upon the completion of projects or events
- Providing project support to other parts of the department as needed, including attending and working National Program and Outreach events held outside of business hours, as well as supporting institutional priorities
Qualifications
BA in international relations or related field with high academic achievementInterest in audience engagement, programming, and event managementInterest in the influence religions have on international relationsExcellent communication skills, including exceptional writing, proofreading, and editing skillsDetail-oriented, self-starter with outstanding organizational skills and the ability to work effectively, both independently and on a team, and to manage multiple tasks simultaneouslyExperience and enthusiasm for working with teamsFlexibility in adjusting work plans when department priorities change, and willingness to work early morning and evening events when necessaryHigh proficiency in MS Word and ExcelQuick learner of contact relationship management systems and databases (training provided)Pay Range
$51,000 to $54,000 per year
