POSITION

The role of the Program Manager, WayPoint Initiative is to manage the staff and operations of all UWBG WayPoint Centers in Lexington and surrounding counties. The manager will also perform an intake of clients, provide financial coaching, and connect them to appropriate services when needed.

UWBG WayPoint Centers are sites located in and around the neighborhoods they exist to serve and provide a multitude of services including, but not limited to, financial stability education, free income tax preparation, and other basic needs and financial programming related to empowering families and helping youth to succeed. The Program Manager, WayPoint Initiative directly supervises all WayPoint Coordinators, and work study students. The Program Manager reports directly to the Director of Community Impact.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

  • Managing and motivating a team of community impact professionals across several sites.
  • Performing all essential functions of a WayPoint coordinator and be willing to work in each center in cases of absence or shortages.
  • Training and scheduling program staff and volunteers.
  • Communicating job expectations and conducting performance evaluations twice per year.
  • Work with staff to schedule daily / weekly / monthly programs and events for each WayPoint Center.
  • Scheduling and coordinating agency partner programs in each WayPoint Center.
  • Drives foot traffic to the center by planning and conducting awareness campaigns.
  • Adapt to the flexibility to work between assigned Waypoint centers and community events / sites.
  • Attend training to serve as subject matter expert for the client management system.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Requirements : QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree or related field experience in public administration, non-profit management, and social services.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience, preferably among multiple sites.
  • 2 years Experience in program development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Bilingual in both English and Spanish preferred, but not required.
  • Computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office.
  • Reliable transportation is necessary.
  • Experience working with volunteers.
  • Extensive knowledge of local social service nonprofit organizations highly preferred.
  • Budget management.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills with timely and consistent attention to follow-up.

  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    The employee is regularly required to communicate, in oral and written formats, with others in person, over the phone, and via other devices. The employee must be able to transcribe, read extensively, prepare, and analyze data and figures, and operate a computer and other standard office machinery. The employee must have the ability to lift, carry, push, and / or pull objects weighing up to 25lbs.

    REQUIRED LICENSE / REGISTRATION / CERTIFICATIONS

  • A valid Kentucky driver’s license is required as well as access to a reliable insured automobile to be used for work-related travel in the Central Kentucky area.
  • Within 30 days of employment, the Program Manager of WayPoint Initiative must earn the Money Management Essentials Certificate from the Association for Financial Counseling & Planning Education.
  • Within 60 days of employment, Program Manager of WayPoint Initiative must earn the following certificates, CPR / First aid, First Aid for Opioid Overdose, and Mental health first aid.
  • Within one year of employment, the Program Manager of WayPoint Initiative must become an accredited financial counselor through AFCPE.
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT

    This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc. The primary office location for this position is Marksbury Family WayPoint Center at the Historic Palmer Pharmacy 400 E. Fifth Street, Lexington, KY. The Program Manager will be expected to travel between WayPoint Centers, and the administrative offices as needed.

    EXPECTED WORK HOURS

    Monday through Friday, 8 : 30AM-5 : 00PM. Must be willing to work a non-standard work schedule, including nights, weekends, and other unusual hours.

    PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENING REQUIREMENTS

    Any candidate offered a position may be required to pass pre-employment screenings as mandated by UWBG. These screenings may include a national background check, and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review.
