Job description

The Laboratory Admin will assist the Laboratory Admin Supervisor with the responsibility of everyday administration duties in the laboratory. The Laboratory Admin is responsible for reviewing final reports, record keeping, and physical maintenance of the laboratory.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Reading and understanding all applicable test methods and safety standards that include but are not limited to ASTM, UOP, and IP.
  • Ensuring final laboratory reports contain all required raw data and are free from transcription and clerical errors.
  • Combining laboratory and operations job files when each section is complete.
  • Organize and maintain the laboratory filing system.
  • Assist other areas of the laboratory with their records (training, quality, management, etc.).
  • Maintaining a clean and orderly laboratory work area.
  • Train to assist with light laboratory testing such as API Gravity.
  • Assisting Laboratory Supervisor with operations communications and updates.
  • Completing required safety training and necessary certifications.
  • Performing other laboratory related duties as assigned.
  • Safety Sensitive position that requires pre-employment, random and annual drug and alcohol testing (including marijuana testing).

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, some college credits preferable.
  • The individual must possess basic computer and mathematic skills.
  • Must be able to demonstrate interpersonal skills.
  • Must communicate effectively with employees, and management.
  • Must possess a basic understanding of general laboratory safety.
  • Working Conditions

    Work is primarily performed in a laboratory with occasional trip to collect or deliver samples The employee may be

    exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. AmSpec Services provides product information,

    training, engineering controls, and personal protective equipment in an effort to protect employees from exposure to

    potentially harmful levels of those materials. Employees are required to read product information, use available

    engineering controls, follow guidelines presented during training, and be able to wear and use appropriate protective

    equipment, including respiratory protective equipment, as may be required by the work environment. The noise level in

    the work environment is usually moderate.

    Physical Requirements

    Pass a drug and alcohol test specified by AmSpec

    Pass an annual Pulmonary Fitness and Respirator Fit Test

    Pass a physical examination by a physician designated by AmSpec Services, both before employment and at any time

    during employment upon request of AmSpec Services to confirm the Surveyor’s ability to perform the essential job

    functions of the position.

    Ability to stand for extended periods and lift / carry boxes weighing up to 45lbs.

    Ability to work in the presence of odors, typical of petroleum or petrochemicals, without allergic reactions or nausea when

    such odors are within OSHA-designated permissible exposure limits (PELs).

    Required Experience
