Staff Structural Engineer

Insight Global is seeking a Staff Structural Engineer to work onsite in Reno, NV for a circular supply chain client of ours! Our client is a sustainable, circular economy for lithium-ion batteries by transforming recycled materials into critical inputs for new battery production. They are looking for a highly skilled Staff Structural Engineer to lead structural design initiatives and help shape the future of battery materials production.

Responsibilities will include :

• Project Leadership : Execute and manage structural engineering projects with minimal supervision, owning the entire process from concept to completion.
• Design & Analysis : Develop detailed design drawings and specifications, perform complex structural calculations, review design work by others, and generate comprehensive reports and evaluations.
• Construction Observation : Monitor and observe construction sites to ensure compliance with design intent, proactively identifying opportunities to improve quality and efficiency.
• Materials & Systems : Analyze and design concrete, steel, and masonry structural elements while creating and justifying calculations based on the relevant material codes.
• Consultant Management : Drive external design consultants to deliver coordinated, high-quality construction documents on time.
• Collaboration : Work both independently and within interdisciplinary teams to arrive at technical solutions that meet project requirements.
• Team Leadership : Provide direction, mentorship, and supervision to junior engineers and other team members, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented environment.
• Stakeholder Engagement : Interface with internal business units to define project requirements, present designs, and incorporate feedback effectively.
• Research & Recommendations : Identify and propose innovative products, materials, and best practices; leverage lessons learned from past and current projects to refine design documentation.
• Process Improvement : Develop workflows, templates, and processes to boost design productivity and quality.
• Coordination & Communication : Lead discipline coordination efforts, manage project schedules, and maintain open lines of communication with all stakeholders.
• Engineer of Record : Serve as the Engineer of Record for most projects.

Desired Qualifications

Education :

o Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering (or Civil Engineering with a Structural emphasis)

o or Bachelor’s Degree in Structural Engineering with 12+ years of expreince

o In-depth knowledge of structural engineering for industrial building structures, including floor loading, lateral force-resisting systems, utility distribution support, equipment anchorage, and vibration.

o Proficiency with U.S. building codes ( IBC, ASCE 7, AISC 360, ACI 318 ).

o Hands-on experience with Revit, BIM 360, and structural finite element software (ETABS, RISA , RAM) as well as structural calculation tools (Enercalc, Hilti Profis).

o Excellent organization and attention to detail

o Strong verbal, written, and sketch / drawing communication skills

o Effective time management and proven ability to drive results under tight deadlines

o Highly motivated, proactive, and passionate about sustainability

o Skilled in cross-functional teamwork and collaboration

Pay Range : $100,000 - $200,000k
