Job description
  • Team operates as Regional Design team large team sharing projects across the Pacific Northwest
  • Prepares complicated truss design and layout drawings - layout drawings may include beams and metal connectors sized and supplied by the company
  • Develops layout and design drawings from architectural drawings or sketches provided to the company
  • Makes phone calls to building designers or professionals to obtain or clarify information shown
  • Draws rough sketches or arranges for finished drawings or photographs to illustrate specified materials or assembly sequence
  • Prepare truss repair drawings for review and approval by a professional engineer
  • Writes technical descriptions specifying material qualities and properties
  • Will be trained on material for Wood Truss Council Level 1-3 certifications Company will cover the cost of the exam (not required but encouraged)
  • Junior candidates will be provided extensive online and in-person training, will partner w / an experienced designer Will train on software, truss math, blue print reading, etc.

    • More experienced Designers)

    • Reviews and checks layout and design drawings prepared by less experienced truss technicians and assists in making modifications prior to release
    • May obtain information pertaining to products that have been field modified or damaged - information is summarized and given to a professional engineer to evaluate and complete repair drawings when required
    • Analyzes technical data and reports to determine if design meets specifications
    • Understands the building code and applies knowledge of special truss industry issues
    • Analyzes plans and diagrams, or observes and makes notes on material processing, to determine material processing specifications or specifications for construction activities

      • Salaries range from $65,000 - $75,000 depending on experience.

      Technical degree or higher

      MiTek truss designer with component or product design experience

      Experience with California design work (California Hips)

      Multifamily design experience

      5+ years recent truss design experience

      Design work in MiTek Sapphire / Structure with current or most recent role(s)

      Strong Experience with custom residential home design
