JOB OVERVIEW
The Category Manager, Grocery, is responsible for purchasing the grocery products selected and approved together with the buying team. The Category Manager, Grocery strategically plans and oversees Eataly’s product relationships and defines sales goals and objectives to maximize revenue and efficiency.
The Category Manager, Grocery coordinates timely and efficient product flow and reorders from vendors to Eataly locations. Reports to the Head Buyer – Grocery.
- Works closely with and through the Product and Operations Team to ensure the buying, merchandising and sales processes are operating efficiently and effectively
- Manages relationships with vendors, and monitors inventory by ensuring the product database, internal spreadsheets and category product spreadsheets are up-to-date, organized and accurate
- Ensures with vendor delivery dates, quantity and respect of terms agreed
- Assists with the examination, selection and ordering of Dry Grocery products
- Monitors sales, and forecasts purchasing plan for local and oversee vendors
- Analyzes merchandise performance and monitors vendor sales per store for local and oversee vendors
- Oversees the entire product life cycle, including, but not limited to : procurement, production, inventory control, logistics and distribution
- Remains in constant communication with store managers and key corporate personnel in each department, maintaining awareness of product needs and objectives
- Manages stock level in the central warehouse and proposes actions to minimize overstock and waste
- Analyzes category trends and competitive concerns, including competitors’ pricing, assortment and consumer trends
- Supports and positively influences Product Team financial goals, product mix, business relationships and innovation needs
- Negotiates cost savings and sale pricing
- Performs other duties as required or assigned
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
2 + years of experience in a similar roleStrong working knowledge of Microsoft Office SuiteAdvanced MS Excel or similar database analysis software requiredOutstanding analytical, organizational and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication, motivation and team-building skillsMicrosoft D365 knowledge preferredItalian product knowledge preferredJOB REQUIREMENTS
