Program Production Assistants are responsible for supporting team-based tasks that ensure the successful execution of daily activities, seasonal programs, and special events across our venues. Key duties include installing, maintaining, operating, and removing all event and program components and materials throughout the calendar year. This is primarily a physically demanding position. The individual will work closely with Program Production leadership and team members, adhering to established operational standards, guidelines, and training provided by Henry Ford, thereby contributing to the overall success of the Program Production team.

This is an hourly, part-time, non-exempt position with expectations of being availability to work weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays, including designated Special Event dates posted in advance with fluctuating schedules week-to-week. Work is conducted outdoors in all weather conditions and in interior spaces that may lack air conditioning or heating. This role may require wearing period-specific clothing or uniforms.

Essential Responsibilities :

Event Operations

  • Perform all duties related to the general operation of setup, operation, and removal of components for special events, on-site activations, and daily programs across indoor and outdoor venues
  • Conduct routine maintenance to ensure all event elements remain in optimal condition throughout the calendar year
  • Install, operate, and remove event components and technical elements
  • Works closely with other teams and / or units to coordinate work; assesses and keeps track of progress of all assigned projects and assesses the impact of all projects on the institutional schedules, resources and financial constraints
  • Participates in all required training sessions at the unit, department, and work team levels to remain current on operational procedures
  • Utilize sound judgment and proactive measures to identify and mitigate potential hazards, ensuring a safe and secure environment for all stakeholders

Guest Experience

  • Maintain high aesthetic standards and a guest-focused approach to ensure the success of daily activities, seasonal programs, and special events
  • Engage professionally with guests, vendors, contractors, participants, and volunteers during special events and responds appropriately to their needs
  • Ensures the safety of guests and staff by utilizing appropriate knowledge of the work environment, following established safe-work practices, and demonstrating a common-sense approach to task accomplishment
  • Deliver excellent hospitality and service to guests in line with the institution's core hospitality principles
  • Team Support

  • Participates in work team activities, supports decision-making, and collaborates with team members both within the department and across the institution
  • Communicates regularly with department members and leaders regarding operational challenges and contributes to the review and evaluation of departmental programs and events
  • Follows instructions and adheres to all policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Policies & Procedures Handbook
  • Contributes to effective team management of problems, issues, and opportunities, and performs other duties as assigned
  • Your Qualifications

  • 18 years of age or older
  • High School Degree or GED equivalent
  • Availability to work weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays, including designated Special Event dates posted in advance
  • Experience operating a forklift
  • Proficient in the use of basic hand tools and understanding their applications
  • Valid drivers' license with the ability to drive a standard transmission vehicle
  • Special Skills

  • Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills to engage with visitors of all ages
  • Basic mechanical aptitude combined with exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness
  • Highly motivated, self-directive, and pro-active strategic & creative problem solver

  • Environmental Requirements

  • Work is conducted outdoors in all weather conditions and in interior spaces that may lack air conditioning or heating
  • Exposure to stove and fireplace smoke may occur
  • Required to wear period-specific clothing or uniforms
  • Expect long working hours with fluctuating schedules week-to-week
