Job Summary : Engineering and technical support to Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Atlantic for the USCG Integrated Product Team (IPT). This support primarily includes the engineering, integration, and technical services required to outfit Coast Guard cutters with C5I systems. Additionally, support includes integration and technical support for standalone shipboard systems. Scope of work includes program, engineering, technical, drafting, training, logistics, procurement, intelligence and operations support services for designated C5I systems onboard National Security Cutter (NSC), Polar Security Cutter (PSC), Offshore Patrol Cutter (OPC), Fast Response Cutter (FRC), Medium Endurance Cutters (WMEC), and other afloat, mobile and shore platforms.

Education and Experience :
Associate’s Degree in Engineering Technology, math, or science; or Formal electronics training from : Technical School, or Class A or B military school in electronics or communications; or four-year electronics apprentice program; or High School diploma or GED.Three (3) years of experience with degree / formal training or five (5) years with HS / GED of practical experience to include design, preparation and modification of engineering documents and drawings.Essential Duties :
Constructing components, subunits, or simple models or adapts standard equipmentTroubleshoot and correct malfunctionsFollowing specific layout and scientific diagrams to construct and package simple devices and subunits of equipmentConducting various tests or experiments which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures as well as subjective judgments in measurement, selecting, preparing, and operating standard test equipment and records test dataExtracting and compiling a variety of engineering data from field notes, manuals, lab reports, etc., processing data, identifying errors or inconsistencies, selecting methods of data presentationAssisting in design modification by compiling data related to design, specifications, and materials that are pertinent to specific items of equipment or component partsDeveloping information concerning previous operational failures and modifications and using judgment and initiative to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data and seek sources to clarify information.Modify, maintain, or repair electronics equipment or systems to ensure proper functioning.Replace defective components or parts, using hand tools and precision instruments.Set up and operate specialized or standard test equipment to diagnose, test, or analyze the performance of electronic components, assemblies, or systems.Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, or engineering instructions for assembling electronics units, applying knowledge of electronic theory and components.Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions, working with manufacturers or field representatives as necessary to procure replacement parts.Assemble electrical systems or prototypes, using hand tools or measuring instruments.Review electrical engineering plans to ensure adherence to design specifications and compliance with applicable electrical codes and standards.Assemble, test, or maintain circuitry or electronic components, according to engineering instructions, technical manuals, or knowledge of electronics, using hand or power tools.Review existing electrical engineering criteria to identify necessary revisions, deletions, or amendments to outdated material.Maintain system logs or manuals to document testing or operation of equipment.Select electronics equipment, components, or systems to meet functional specifications.Calculate design specifications or cost, material, and resource estimates, and prepare project schedules and budgets.Educate equipment operators on the proper use of equipment.Supervise the installation or operation of electronic equipment or systems.Compile and maintain records documenting engineering schematics, installed equipment, installation or operational problems, resources used, repairs, or corrective action performed.Modify electrical prototypes, parts, assemblies, or systems to correct functional deviations.Integrate software or hardware components, using computer, microprocessor, or control architecture.Procure parts and maintain inventory and related documentation.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
