This person will act as the first responder for the engineering manager. This position will learn the engineering skills to be successful in a manufacturing environment. This position has a hands-on, highly interactive process improvement emphasis. This role will focus on the extrusion aspect of our production process but will assist in other areas as needed.

Accountable for :

Gaining knowledge of the PI manufacturing process while contributing to our KPIs around manufacturing efficiency, quality and safety.

Contributing to process improvement projects by designing and implementing portions of large-scale production and automation equipment improvements

Conducting Job Hazard Analyses and other observations to facilitate process improvement.

Prepares and evaluates feasibility of machine design changes & coordinates such modification projects while working closely with production.

Basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems and can troubleshoot these systems.

Effectively communicates all aspects of our needs to equipment vendors / suppliers.

Part of interdepartmental teams to improve safe working practices.

Strives to optimize operating conditions and resolve problem areas for routine tasks.

Displays standard operating procedure knowledge.

Performs other special projects as assigned.

Follows good manufacturing practices to ensure product safety.

Minimum Qualifications :

Bachelor's degree in engineering field

Entry level 3-D modeling skills

Basic understanding of design concepts and materials

Physical Demands :

Prolonged periods of standing work

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

Ability to frequently lift 15-25 lbs.

Occasional repetitious tasks with upper extremities

Frequent keyboard use / data entry

Attention to detail

Ability to correctly wear and use personal protective equipment

Able to work in other facilities a minimum of 2 weeks per year.

Ability to climb a ladder.

Ability to work around hot equipment
