Description

The student assistance coordinator shall

  • Utilize a variety of valid teaching strategies, techniques, interactive opportunities, and technology implementation to challenge students to reach their potential in a college prep school. Make changes in the curriculum, methods, and / or materials to meet each student's needs, including struggling students and high achieving students.
  • Assess student learning to help determine placement and needed services with the principal's input, using Acadeince, NWEA, and any progress monitoring from self and / or classroom teacher.
  • Maintain student learning results by providing instructional feedback; by coaching, counseling, and disciplining students; and by planning, monitoring, and appraising learning results.
  • Instruct classes / groups / individuals at the times designated.
  • Maintain records by documenting learning accomplishments, attendance, and behavior through PowerTeacher, or other format as directed by the principal.
  • Recognize the role of parents as being primarily responsible to God for their children's education, and be prepared to assist them with this task.
  • Help parents by providing academic information, by suggesting available educational and social resources, by addressing parents' concerns, and by answering questions and requests.
  • Assist parents and the school in monitoring and supporting ISP's (Individual Student Plan).
  • Assist teachers with support and training in regard to classroom accommodations that need to be made (504 plans)
  • Help provide readiness for transition of students receiving resource room help from the elementary to the middle school.
  • Provide assessment data on program effectiveness.
  • Consult with the principal regarding mid-term and report card grades.
  • Submit requests for supplies and materials needed to enhance the resource program.
  • Know and comply with emergency and crisis procedures.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, by reviewing professional publications, by establishing personal networks, and by participating in professional societies.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Keep proper discipline in the classroom, hallways, and on school premises.
  • Enforce the parent / student handbook.
  • Integrate biblical principles, biblical worldview, and the Christian philosophy of education throughout the curriculum and activities.
  • Contribute to the spiritual growth of the students by example, by personal and professional studies, and by personal devotions and worship.
  • Actively assist and encourage students to grow in their faith.
  • Develop rapport with students, parents, and staff.
  • Supervise and sponsor extra-curricular activities, as assigned or needed.
  • Support the broader program of the school by attending extra-curricular activities when possible.
  • Recognize the need for and contribute to good public relations inside the school family, as well as outside in the community.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Attend and participate in scheduled devotionals, staff training, committees, and faculty meetings, unless prior approval for absence is given by the principal.
  • Cooperate with the Board and administration in implementing all policies, procedures, and directives governing operation of the school.
  • All other duties, as assigned, by the Board, Superintendent, or building Principal.
