Responsibilities
- Responsible for coordinating and processing the University Criminal History Background Check daily processes to include the ordering of background checks via Onboarding or manual request, reviewing of criminal history background check reports in light of university policy and practice, researching and preparing cases for the HR Background Check Review Committee, approving Onboarding appointments once appropriate, reviewing position descriptions and duties of various appointments, internal movement, Questionnaires, etc. in comparison to policy, reviewing background check requirements for positions, collecting required documents, monitoring reports, partnering with University departments and external agencies to ensure background check processes are completed efficiently, researching records as needed, and conducting weekly background check audits.
- Responsible for understanding of university background check policies and procedures and providing guidance and assistance to University departments and candidates regarding background check policy and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws. Manage Background Check email accounts / communications with departments. Coordinates summer camp background check process, “rosters,” and workload among the BGC Team.
- Responsible for assisting the Human Resources Fingerprinting Office to fingerprint FSU employment and volunteer candidates. Performs other related duties as required and deemed appropriate to the accomplishment of the responsibilities and functions of the department including supporting HR Records, HR Background Check Team, and Employment & Recruitment Services as needed. Serves as backup for front desk administration support for the FSU HR suite. Assists and refers visitors and callers to appropriate HR section / contact.
- Assists the University Background Check & HR Records Manager in performing various duties such as, 1) performing monthly background check reconciliation ensuring proper billing to campus departments and partners, , 2) assisting HR-Records with the various employment and income verification requests and HR-Records personnel file projects, 3) assisting reviewing and approving job openings to determine background check requirements per University policy, and 4) assisting with various background check policy questions, projects, and issues.
- Assists the processing of OPS Express Job Offers including the launching of FSU Onboarding invitations when needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in human resources or related field; or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience in human resources or related field. (Note : a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years.)
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations.Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices.Experience working in a fast-paced large office setting.Experience working with confidential and sensitive information such as Criminal Justice Information (CJI) and Personally Identifiable Information (PII).Experience, ability, and passion for managing processes which entail multiple details and criteria which require absolute attention and understanding.University Information

Anticipated Salary Range
