RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sign language interpreter for ASL classroom.
- Provide American Sign Language interpretation and / or cued language transliteration in varied environments, i.e. :
- Classrooms, staff meetings, large / formal training meetings, department meetings, IEP meetings, and interactions with supervisors and colleagues.
- Effectively facilitate communication between American Sign Language and / or cued language and English.
- Adhere to RID (Registry of Interpretrs of the Deaf) and / or TECUnit Code of Professional Conduct.
- Knowledge of technical signs and / or vocabulary used in educational environments.
- Dependable, flexible, and organized.
- Collaborative team player with teacher and staff.
- Willingness to participate in interpreter training opportunities.
EXPERIENCE :
Experience with simultaneous interpreting between ASL and / or cued language and English.Interpreting experience in educational settings.QUALIFICATIONS :
Must hold a valid certification in one of the following : Competency in English, ASL and / or cued language.Virginia Quality Assessment Screening Level III, or
Education Interpreter Performance Assessment 3.5 or above, or
RID Certification.
Knowledge of RID (Registry of Interpreters of the Deaf) and / or TECUnit Code of Professional Conduct
