Civil Engineer
BASIC FUNCTION :
Under general supervision, manages the civil / site planning engineering documentation for the design, development, and construction of new and existing hotels.
GENERAL JOB DUTIES :
- Work directly with the Development Team, Architects and Engineers in exploring multiple conceptual site planning options for potential hotel parcels.
- Work with and direct outside consultants as needed to support the design and construction of hotels.
- Maintains the project schedule by ensuring the timely preparation of deliverables on assigned projects for all responsible parties.
- Participates in project team coordination for incorporating design intent into the construction documentation, specifications, and during construction administration.
- Helps with all aspects in the construction administration of project assignments, including review of shop drawings and submittals, quality control, and site visits.
- Facilitates coordination with consultants, contractors, fabricators, specifications, and regulatory agencies under general supervision to meet overall project objectives.
- Maintains close collaboration with design team, consultants, contractors, and vendors.
- Helps to evaluate new products and systems, energy savings strategies, and cost saving initiatives.
GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY :
Research and understand local municipalities code and regulatory requirements and direct the design team or consultant to reflect such requirements in the design documentation.Perform grading, drainage, stormwater detention calculations, utility planning and sizing and all civil engineering functions needed to capture site and grading approvals with local municipalities.Excellent AutoCAD Civil 3D proficiency required. Proficient with all aspects of MS Office.Experience in construction document preparation and field observation.Working knowledge of the 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design.Skilled in leadership, organization, business writing, and communication skills.Must be able to work independently, multi-task, be a team player, possess a can-do attitude, and be a self-starter.MENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
EDUCATION : Must possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited college and a current State of Missouri professional engineer's license, with the ability to capture professional engineering license in multiple states.
EXPERIENCE : 7 years minimum of progressive experience in a similar position preferred.
PHYSICAL SKILLS : Requires ability to work at computer for extended periods of time; requires ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time; requires ability to lift 15-25 pounds intermittently; may require ability to lift heavy equipment on an as-needed basis.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS :
Reports directly to Civil Engineering Director.May coordinate with other outside consultants under general supervision.Cooperates with management staff (Construction, VP of Development, and Operations) and other team members.Will work closely with Development Team and Architecture / Engineering.
