Branch Manager Position Summary
The Branch Manager position requires extensive, in-depth knowledge and experience in the construction industry. This role holds full responsibility for estimating, project management, field supervision, and execution within the Commercial Division, which includes Division 4 Masonry and Division 7 / 9 EIFS, Stucco, and Air / Water Barriers. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Branch Manager will oversee staffing, management, supervision, and execution of all secured commercial contracts. Additionally, the Branch Manager will serve as the Project Manager of record for multiple projects. Note, that this position will indirectly influence and control the Field Foreman / crew leaders, and all field support personnel.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Nature & Scope of Position
- Lead the company’s Safety Program, with a strong emphasis on scaffold and fall protection compliance.
- Oversee project management assignments, ensuring proper staffing and supervision for all BSM projects.
- Manage Project Managers and Superintendents, providing guidance and addressing concerns appropriately.
- Ensure all projects adhere to approved plans, specifications, and materials.
- Oversee the hiring, termination, and onboarding of field personnel and crews.
- Ensure materials are procured by Project Managers and Superintendents as needed.
- Act as the primary point of contact for General Contractors (GCs) and project teams.
- Identify and document change orders or altered field conditions, coordinating pricing with the Estimator.
- Oversee project scheduling and resource allocation to optimize efficiency.
- Track and report field-measured quantities and installed work for installer / crew pay purposes (handled by others).
- Ensure accurate progress reporting for billing purposes (handled by others).
- Lead pre-job meetings to develop an effective execution plan for each project.
- Manage on-site customer relations, ensuring satisfaction and issue resolution.
- Oversee scaffold and equipment needs, allocation, and maintenance.
Principal Responsibilities
Supervise and manage Project Managers and Superintendents, ensuring effective performance.Facilitate handoff meetings between the Estimator, Project Manager, and Superintendent.Assign crew, foreman, and supervisory roles for each job.Review all new projects to evaluate risks, improvements, and necessary actions.Perform Reverse Take-Offs to verify quantities, material ordering, and scheduling.Lead weekly operations meetings, ensuring team accountability and task completion.Assess project manpower needs, supervision levels, and QA / QC requirements, coordinating with Superintendents.Enforce and promote safety compliance, with special emphasis on scaffold and fall protection.Provide consistent leadership and direction for Superintendents and field staff.Oversee equipment allocation and ensure proper maintenance.Assist with recruiting, training, and retaining key field personnel.Ensure a BSM representative is present at all job site meetings.Review and interpret blueprints, providing clear, color-coded drawings to Superintendents.Address and resolve constructability issues in collaboration with Project Managers and Superintendents.Optimize resource utilization (labor, materials, equipment) for cost-effective operations.Minimize material waste on job sites.Ensure contractual paperwork requirements are completed, including daily logs, manpower reports, meeting minutes, and safety documentation.Collaborate with the estimating team to secure new projects.Serve as the primary representative for Division 4 operations in Utah, maintaining strong client relationships.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.A bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university is preferredDeep understanding of construction project lifecycles, including pre-construction, estimating, and project management processes.Preferably Large Masonry Company experience7+ years’ experience in commercial construction (Division 4 Masonry required).Good organizational and time management skills.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Ability to multi-task and meet strict deadlines.Knowledge of Bluebeam, Excel, CAD and / or Tradesmen's is a plus.
