Job description

Job Title : Sales Manager (Automation)

Pay : Up to 160k base plus commission (depending on experience)

Company car or car allowance provided

Travel : Yes (mainly local travel and home every night)

Location : Irvine, CA

Work Schedule : Hybrid

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops and executes a business plan and sales strategy for the market that ensures the attainment of company sales goals and profitability.
  • Ensures that Account Managers meet or exceed activity standards for prospecting calls, appointments, presentations, proposals, and closes.
  • Responsible for the performance and development of the Account Managers.
  • Delegates authority and responsibility with accountability and follow-up.
  • Sets examples for Account Managers in personal character, commitment, organizational and selling skills, and work habits.
  • Mentors and coaches, the team to build motivation and selling skills.
  • Maintains contact with key clients in the market area to ensure high levels of client satisfaction.
  • Demonstrates the ability to interact and cooperate with all company employees.
  • Initiates and coordinates the development of an action plan to penetrate new markets.
  • Conducts one-on-one reviews with Account Managers to build more effective communications, understand training and development needs, and provide insight for improving sales and activity performance.
  • Prepare sales forecast and activity reports for management.
  • Provides and maintains accurate records of pricing, sales, activity reports, and proposals submitted by Account Managers.
  • Creates and conducts proposal presentations, RFP responses, and monthly sales meetings.
  • Controls expenses to meet budget guidelines.
  • Adheres to all company policies, procedures, and business ethics codes and ensures that they are communicated and implemented within the team.
  • Prepare and conduct annual professional sales development training and prepare Coaching and Action plans.
  • Identifies new business opportunities within the automation industry to further develop and grow the business
  • Coaches and mentors, the team to develop new business with clients, while also identifying new business opportunities with various contractors for new plan and specification pursuits.
  • Develops and maintains key relationships within the Engineering community for plan and specification work
  • Apply the principles of financial selling and conceptually understand energy efficiency to help build compelling value for our clients.
  • Develop relationships with other business partners to help grow deals for sellers.

Job Specifications (incl. Education requirements, minimal experience, computer skills required, etc.)

  • Associates degree in business administration or related field or equivalent experience required, B.A. / B.S. desired
  • 7+ years of sales experience required within the HVAC / Automation field.
  • Prior Sales Leadership / Management experience desired
  • Good time management, communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent PC skills (Excel, Word, Dynamics, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • High collaboration, problem solving and action orientation are attributes required for this position.
