About the role :

The Director of Project Management - Construction will lead and manage a team of project managers and have oversight over construction project engineers to execute the goals of the function. The Director of Project Management will help with program and process development and be responsible for the interdependencies of the PM / CM software system; including reporting and general supervision of construction-related projects. This person will play a pivotal role in overseeing end-to-end management of designated distributed energy PV + BESS and standalone construction projects and the team managing them. May require landowner relationship management and / or jurisdictional relationship management. The Director of Project Management will ensure goals are met on time and on budget while contracts are effectively administered. In order to be considered for this position, you must be located within the Boston or greater Boston area.

What you'll do :

  • Manage and lead the team to achieve company vision, mission, and corporate goals, including budget, schedule, safety, quality, and investor requirements.
  • Maintain lower team attrition rates.
  • Develop and mentor the team, teaching and training often.
  • Monitor and control projects / portfolios, project and construction management processes, and systems to empower clear real-time progress, risks, and mitigations.
  • Prepare and facilitate weekly and monthly meetings to capture progress and issues, building plans to mitigate and remove barriers in achieving contract obligations for the company and investors.
  • Participate in monthly and quarterly functional meetings to report and update other functions on progress, changes, and overall project health.
  • Ensure all project control means and methods are integrated into agreements and effectively deployed throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Create, maintain, and utilize BlueWave master project and portfolio Critical Path Method schedules, ensuring all project constraints, including utility, contractor, vendor, supplier, and external third-party time and effort constraints, are integrated.
  • Oversee and report on all project / portfolio budgets and financial forecasts bimonthly.
  • Work collaboratively to ensure company safety program is integrated into project work.
  • Manage relationships with EPC contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Implement and oversee project document controls.
  • Ensure the completion of all post-construction requirements.
  • Travel up to 25%.

Qualifications :

  • Must be located within the Boston or greater Boston area.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in construction project management, ideally over a range of different commercial projects.
  • Experience in Renewable Energy Distributed Generation and / or Utility projects is required.
  • Experience in solar projects, not limited to utilities.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of commercial construction practices and skillsets.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction law and experience with contract administration.
  • Demonstrated track record of developing teams, people, and processes.
  • Understanding of both civil and vertical construction, including responsibility ownership differences.
  • Demonstrated track record managing complex projects ranging from $6-15 million in value and a portfolio of up to $60 million in value.
  • Expertise in using the MS Office suite, including Word, Excel, and MS Project.
  • Strong experience with financials in Procore (or comparable software such as Sage or Timberline), including budget management, cost forecasting, and budget change management.
  • Mixed experience with both Commercial and Industrial (C&I) and distributed generation projects (1-20 MW).
  • Experience managing all trades, with involvement in both mechanical and substantial completion.
  • Experience in both EPC and owner roles.
