Job Description : Legislative Liaison

Center for Christian Virtues Legislative Liaison works for the Policy Director in serving as our lead voice at the Ohio Statehouse and with lawmakers. His or her mission is to ensure Ohio public policy builds up families, protects religious freedom, and safeguards the dignity of human life. Professional, personable, highly-organized, and deeply passionate about the Gospel and CCV's mission, the Legislative Liaison plays an essential role in serving state and local lawmakers.

Reports to : Policy Director

Hours : Monday-Friday, 8 : 00am to 4 : 30pm

Compensation : Full-time, Salaries / Exempt

Location : CCV Office in Columbus, Ohio, with occasional statewide travel

Key Responsibilities

  • Together with the Policy Director, lead CCV's efforts to advance CCV's legislative agenda.
  • Prepare and give legislative testimony in support of bills on CCV's legislative agenda or in opposition to bills that undermine our mission.
  • Conduct legislative research including reviewing legislation & amendments introduced in the General Assembly for impact on CCV issues.
  • Draft Fact Sheets on CCV's primary bills.
  • Present CCV's mission and information on CCV-related issues at public speaking engagements and with the media.
  • Provide periodic analysis and reports for management.
  • Support other CCV divisions with legislative support as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications & Requirements

Skills and Experience :

  • Undergraduate degree required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in policy-related field and knowledge of Ohio legislative process preferred.
  • Strong research skills as well as proven verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attentive to detail and well organized.
  • Strong time management skills, punctual, able to operate on a schedule, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Flexible to accommodate shifting priorities.
  • Ability to thrive in a multi-tasking, fast-paced work environment.
  • Self-motivated daily by a passion to see CCV's work advance.
  • Able to be proactive and strive to close gaps in skill and knowledge.
  • Proficient in Google, Microsoft programs, and CRM database.
  • Character and Spiritual :

  • Mature Christian, currently attending or pursuing attendance in a local church.
  • Agreement with and adherence to CCVs Statement of Faith and Code of Conduct.
  • Demonstrated commitment to CCVs mission and position on Core Issues.
  • Ability to work discreetly with confidential information.
  • Trustworthy and responsible.
  • Tactful and diplomatic, with a focus on building consensus rather than emphasizing differences.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism, with a focus on client / constituent relationships.
  • Exhibit strong leadership qualities.
