Job description

The Department of Mathematics and Physics at Manhattan College is seeking a highly qualified Lab Manager to join our team starting in August 2024. This non-tenure track position is integral to the smooth operation and enhancement of our Physics and Science laboratory courses. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing laboratory experiments, distributing equipment, maintaining inventory, improving and updating the experiments. Position also requires that individual teaches up to 8 credits per academic year, as well as serving as the Course Coordinator for Physics I and II. Exceptional candidates may be considered at the level of Visiting Associate Professor as well.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Prepare laboratory experiments for Physics and Science.
  • Distribute and manage laboratory equipment.
  • Maintain and monitor inventory.
  • Teach up to 8 credits per academic year.
  • Serve as the Course Coordinator for Physics I and II.
  • Monitor, repair, replace, and install equipment required for Physics and Astronomy teaching laboratories.
  • Maintain compliance with safety regulations in Physics and Science laboratories.
  • Improve and update laboratory experiments.
  • Revise and edit lab manuals.

Reports to : Department Chair

Qualifications :

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in the sciences.
  • Minimum of 3 years of previous experience in a related role.
  • Skills and Competencies :

  • Strong knowledge of Physics.
  • Strong organizational and management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety regulations and protocols.
  • Technical skills related to laboratory equipment and maintenance.
  • Salary : $75,000 To $77,000 Per Year
