Basic Job Functions :

Nucor Steel West Virginia is growing with an Environmental Technician position. The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to taking care of our customers by executing the division's safety, quality, cost, productivity, and profitability objectives. The Environmental Technician will primarily support the operations and maintenance of the baghouse, water treatment plant, radiation detection equipment, and other environmental aspects (water, waste, The role also requires data management and record keeping for all environmental areas. The Environmental Technician will collaborate with the mill production and maintenance teams and participate in the planning and coordination of the environmental team's work activities.

  • The Environmental Technician must be flexible to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime, some night shifts and weekends. As the construction phase progresses, the shift will change to a 4 on and 4 off position.

Nucor Steel West Virginia is Nucor’s new sheet mill with advanced steel making capabilities and lower carbon emissions. This is a greenfield project, which is estimated to be fully operational after two years of construction. The new steel mill will employ 800 full-time teammates producing up to 3 million tons per year at one of the most technologically advanced sheet mills located in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains in close proximity to both Huntington and Charleston, WV.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Ability to safely work at heights, in confined spaces, and with hazardous chemicals / wastes.
  • Two years of industrial experience relating to environmental compliance
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical and or electrical systems
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team setting to accomplish a common goal
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Previous experience in trouble shooting pumps, motors and fume treatment systems
