About the Role :

We are hiring one in-person tutor to support Regents exam preparation for students in grades 10, 11, and 12 at Nelson Mandela High School. The tutor will push into ELA and U.S. History classrooms, working alongside teachers to provide small-group support and targeted instruction. The tutor will help students improve their reading comprehension, passage analysis, and short-answer response skills to prepare them for their Regents exams.

All curriculum and class materials will be provided by the school. The tutor will play a critical role in helping students meet graduation requirements and build confidence in their academic abilities.

What You’ll Do :

  • Push into ELA and U.S. History classrooms to provide in-person tutoring support.
  • Work closely with teachers to deliver targeted Regents exam preparation.
  • Provide small-group instruction to students who still need to pass the ELA and U.S. History Regents exams.
  • Support students with reading comprehension, passage analysis, and short-answer response skills.
  • Adapt strategies and instructional approaches to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Foster a positive and engaging learning environment to help students build confidence.

Schedule :

  • Days : Tuesday and Thursday
  • Time : 10 : 30 AM – 2 : 30 PM
  • Duration : March 18, 2025 – May 29, 2025 (excluding holidays and school conferences)
  • Key Dates Off :

    • April 14th–April 18th (Spring Recess)

    What We’re Looking For :

  • Experience : Prior experience tutoring or teaching high school-level ELA, U.S. History, or Social Studies.
  • Team Player : Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers and engage students in small-group instruction.
  • Communication Skills : Strong verbal and written communication skills to connect with students and educators.
  • Passion for Education : A commitment to helping students succeed on their Regents exams and achieve their academic goals.
  • Availability : Must be able to work the specified schedule consistently.
