A bit about us :

A well regarded plaintiff personal injury firm in Manhattan is seeking an experienced probate and surrogate's court attorney for their growing practice. With a significant presence in New York, Pennsylvania, California, and Illinois, our client is widely recognized for excellence in complex plaintiff personal injury representation, mass tort, medical malpractice, defective product, and product liability litigation.

We are seeking an attorney with at least 2 years of recent experience specifically managing deceased cases and estate law through the New York State Probate Court System. Core job responsibilities include :

  • Prepare and draft Surrogate Court petitions and related documents
  • Produce asset lists, analyze bank and business records, and identify trust and non-trust assets
  • Attend court proceedings, depositions, and hearings
  • Communicate effectively with clients and court offices
  • Maintain client files and prepare materials for client meetings
  • Submit court filings either by mail or NYSCEF

Interested candidates must have strong written and verbal communication skills and excellent client service temperament, specifically patience and empathy.     Interested candidates must have at least 2 years of recent probate and surrogate's court experience. Must have J.D. from an accredited university, be admitted to New York State bar, and currently live in New York City. Additional qualifications include :

  • Expertise in drafting and filing New York State probate and administration matters
  • Proficiency e-filing through NYSCEF
  • Ability to operate with autonomy and as a team player within the department
  • Must be detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skillset
