We are looking for caring and supportive Direct Support Professionals to provide 1 : 1 services to one or more individuals. Our Independent and Supported Living Services primarily focus on basic self-help activities, which may include :

  • Money management
  • Shopping
  • Meal preparation
  • Health / medical care
  • Laundry
  • Advocacy
  • Assists individuals in maintaining home cleanliness

Compensation :

  • 19.00 - $25.00 / hour

  • Projected Schedule :

  • Hours / Days : Monday - Friday, 8 : 00 AM - 4 : 00 pm and / or 4 : 00 PM - 10 PM
  • Weekend Availability : 8 : 00 AM - 4 : 00 PM and / or 4 : 00 PM - 10 PM
  • Must be able to support 2 or more service areas in our program : Dixon, Vacaville, Fairfield / Suisun, Vallejo, and Benicia.
  • We hire based on individuals' support needs and match your availability to those needs.
  • It is Connections For Life’s policy that all Direct Support Professionals work no less than 8 hours weekly.
  • Requirements :

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • A minimum of 18 years of age
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Proof of Auto Insurance
  • CPR / First Aid Certification (offered internally)

  • Responsibilities :

    The Direct Support Professional has the following responsibilities and duties :

  • Supports individuals with maintaining a safe household and providing individualized support outlined in the Individual Support Plan.
  • Accepts and works within established household routines.
  • Takes on responsibilities for laundry, shopping, meal planning and preparation, and household cleaning.
  • Assists with hygiene and daily health needs, including shower assistance, personal care, cleaning, and medication.
  • Adheres to filling out the Medication Administration Form (MAR) and signing chore lists.
  • Welcomes and respects the individual’s friends and other visitors.
  • Assists the individual in developing and maintaining positive relationships in the community.
  • Maintains appropriate timekeeping, reflecting accurate hours worked.
  • Communicates effectively with CFL management in the event of accidents as required by Incident Reporting procedures.
  • Attends routine house meetings, workshops, and training as requested.
  • Provides reliable transportation to and from appointments, grocery stores, community activities, and events.
  • Accesses CFL email weekly to check and communicate necessary information to CFL management.
  • Uses the CFL scheduling platform weekly to ensure the accuracy of services provided. DSPs are responsible for ensuring their schedules are accurate and notifying appropriate CFL management of discrepancies.
  • Other duties as specified and assigned by the employer.
  • Physical Demands :

    While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee may need to assist a person in movement from bed to chair or chair to vehicle. Assistance may also be required for a person from a chair to shower or bed via the Hoyer lift. CFL has a no-single lift policy; DSPs are fully trained and capable of appropriate movement procedures for the people we support, including the usage of Hoyer lifts.

    The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers to handle or feel. The employee is required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

    Requirements :

    Education : High School Diploma preferred.

  • Experience : A minimum of six months of working in the field of human services preferred.
  • Special skills and knowledge :

    Must possess an understanding of and commitment to the philosophy of integration, normalization, and individual-driven services. Direct Support Professionals must be willing to carry out and share responsibilities, consistently be on time for their shifts, and respect confidential information. Direct Support Professionals provide support in the areas of personal care support (e.g., ability to assist with physical transfers of individuals) and household management. Direct Support Professionals possess the ability to work well with others in a team environment. Individuals are required to be current in basic first aid and CPR certification within 90 days of employment. Proof of current certification must be provided every two years at renewal. Hours of employment are based on the individual support needs and may change unexpectedly.
