Irvine Company Apartment Development is a prominent real estate company that owns and manages over 65,000 apartment homes in highly sought-after locations across Coastal California. With a focus on providing exceptional living experiences, the company is expanding its apartment portfolio. To facilitate this growth, we are seeking an experienced designer to join our team and contribute to the planning and design of new apartment communities, property reinvestments, and the development of innovative rental housing product types.

Objectives :

  • New Apartment Communities : Participate in conceptualizing, planning, and designing new rental housing communities, ensuring they meet high quality, functionality, and aesthetic appeal standards.
  • Portfolio Reinvestment : Contribute to reinvestment projects by assessing current properties, identifying areas for improvement, and developing design solutions.
  • Innovative Rental Housing Types : Collaborate with in-house designers to develop new rental housing types that cater to residents' evolving needs and preferences.
  • Work with the direct supervision of a Senior Director, Architecture.
  • Conduct site evaluations and feasibility studies to inform design decisions, considering local zoning, building codes, and environmental considerations.
  • Create innovative and functional designs that prioritize resident experience, sustainability, and aesthetic appeal.
  • Prepare and review architectural drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Collaborate with construction teams during the implementation phase to ensure design intent is realized.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, advancements, and best practices in architecture and design.
  • Manage design process from conceptual design through delivery.
  • Collaborate on programming and floor plan development.
  • Coordinate construction drawings and schedules.
  • Interface with Construction Director / General Contractor on requests for information, constructability, and design issues.
  • Review and approve material submittals.
  • Attend construction walks for progress and compliance with plans.

Minimum Qualifications / Other Expectations :

Education & Experience :

  • Bachelor’s degree in an architecture discipline or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in the design of apartment / multi-family housing and mixed-use projects.
  • Able to read architectural plans and have a strong knowledge of architectural and construction detailing.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Team player with a positive attitude.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp or related software.
  • Proficient in InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Proficient in Bluebeam or related software.
  • Compensation :

    Base Pay Range : $114,800.00 - $152,100.00

    Actual placement within this range may vary based upon relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.
