Basic Function :
To assist with the staff recruitment, selection, and placement of qualified and diverse applicants for a variety of staff positions throughout the university and to assist with the implementation and administration of compensation and related programs for staff. Reports to the Manager of Compensation.

Duties / essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following :
Assist with the staff recruitment, selection and placement of candidates (, communicate, educate, and train departments on policies and procedures; process employment forms / documents and maintain employment records, etc.).
Identify and recruit qualified diverse candidates by utilizing a variety of sources to include online resources and networking with organizations.
Manage the hiring process utilizing the University’s Online Applicant Tracking system. Assist university hiring officials with the online process.
Correspond and communicate with vendors as needed.
Recruit and screen internal and external candidates (, maintain qualified applicant pools to include temporary pools, review and evaluate applications and resumes; may conduct interviews; schedule, administer and score tests, and maintain records).
Prepare candidates for interviewing with University hiring managers and search committees by providing detailed information about Kent State University, University strategies, departmental background, job descriptions, etc.
Implement focused and targeted staff recruitment activities as directed (, sourcing, direct mailings, contacts, employee referral, etc.) to remedy the under representation of members of the protected class as identified by recruitment profile.
Correspond and communicate with applicants to ensure timely receipt of verbal and written information, answer questions and resolve issues related to human resource topics (, employment, employee relations, compensation, benefits, etc.) and explain university policies and procedures, state and federal laws, and collective bargaining agreements to departments, employees and applicants.
Assist in the analysis of position and salary information to determine appropriate pay for new hires, promotions, supplemental pay requests, etc.
Participate in salary surveys.
Conduct job audit interviews; determine appropriate classification / title; prepare written reports and recommendations.
Assist in the maintenance of civil service, bargaining unit, and administrative / professional compensation plans to include associated salary schedules.
Assist with independent contractor requests ensuring compliance with university policies and procedures; review and approve requests, collaborate with other university departments to resolve issues and serve as point of contact to hiring departments.
Assist in writing and updating job descriptions and classification specifications.
Serves as main point of contact for designated unit(s) at the university (, typically smaller units).
Review, approve, monitor, and take action upon a variety of personnel transactions (, appointments, status changes, wage increases, etc.). Initiate paperwork as necessary.
Assist in maintaining a variety of files and reports relative to the Compensation Department.
Performs related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Management, or relevant field. Three months professional experience in human resources, recruitment / staffing, or compensation.
License / Certification :
Knowledge Of :

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements :
Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and / or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and / or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building frequently and off campus occasionally.
