Job description

Overview

Our financial services client is looking for a Senior Accountant to help the Operations Accounting team. This individual will play a key role in daily and month-end activities, conducting general ledger account reconciliations, analyzing discrepancies, assisting with Financial Reporting Requests, and preparing journal entries. We are targeting a candidate with prior accounting experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform various accounting and financial operations tasks, including but not limited to general ledger reconciliations, account adjustments, accruals, and other assigned duties within established deadlines.
  • Assist in the month-end and year-end close processes, including variance analysis, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
  • Support financial reporting activities, including regulatory compliance and internal reporting requirements.
  • Provide assistance for internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation and ensuring compliance with policies and standards.
  • Conduct ad-hoc financial analyses and contribute to special projects as needed.
  • Identify, research, and resolve discrepancies in financial data, escalating complex issues when necessary.
  • Maintain effective communication with internal teams, global branches, and external stakeholders to ensure smooth financial operations.
  • Ensure timely completion and compliance with property tax filings and other regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with team members and provide support as needed.

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.
  • Four to five years of experience in general ledger accounting.
  • Experience in the banking or financial services industry preferred.
  • Proficiency with financial systems such as FIS, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (CPA preferred).
  • Strong analytical, technical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Salary

  • The hourly rate for this position is $37 - $42 per hour depending upon experience.
