Position Summary
As an Assistant Counselor , you will work collaboratively with the treatment team to coordinate, as directed, quality care and case management for patients living with substance use disorder. Adhere to a professional code of ethics. Assure documentation reflects the care delivered. Perform all other ethical and professional duties as requested by the Treatment Director or Clinical Program Coordinator. Provide patient support in accordance with established Bradford Health Services Philosophy and Standards of Treatment. Responsible for compliance with all Bradford Health Services' Standards of Conduct, Policies and Procedures, Principles of Treatment, and regulations of accrediting bodies such as the State and The Joint Commission.
Know and abide by the general provisions of 42 CFR Part 2, “Confidentiality of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Patient Records”; and 42 CFR “Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act”. This position has unrestricted access to patient health information.

Must demonstrate an ability to support and coordinate the patient’s work on treatment objectives while keeping the patient, clinical team, payors and referral sources involved or informed as appropriate.Must have working knowledge of 12-step Programs and PrinciplesIntegrate this knowledge into the therapeutic process and treatment planning maintaining a professional treatment focusDemonstrate an ability to manage both addicted and dually diagnosed patientsDemonstrate an ability to assist patients through their denial and resistance to treatmentMust assist the patient in planning for post-discharge planning including their involvement in Continuing Care and 12-step FellowshipsProvide legible documentationParticipate in Clinical Team meetingsAble to work in a cooperative manner with co-workers, managers, clients, and prospective managersRequired Skills / Abilities :
Experience in addiction treatment is preferredMust demonstrate ability to provide clear, concise, relevant information on chemical dependency and recovery in a lecture formatMust demonstrate the ability to communicate information in a dignified and respectful mannerMust demonstrate the ability to motivate patients and to learn and understand necessary facts about addiction and recoveryDemonstrate a personal-professional lecture or presentation style that is effective with patients.Regular attendanceOther duties as assigned by the Treatment Director, Clinical Program Coordinator or designeeEducation :
Bachelor’s degree in Social or Behavioral Science preferred or High School equivalencyCertification from a recognized State Authority in addiction treatment (CAC, CADP) or Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (LADC I or II), or Certified Peer Recovery Specialist is preferred.Physical Requirements :
Must be capable of being certified and administering CPR and First AidMust be emotionally and physically capable of functioning under stressful situationsWalk within the facility approximately ½ mile per 8-hour shiftMust be able to continuously sit from ½ hours up to 4 hours per 8-hour shiftMust be able to see (corrected) and hear (hearing aid acceptable)Must be able to work in a constant state of alertness as to perform the job in a safe mannerIf recovering, 3 years of continuous verifiable sobrietyWe Offer :
