The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for overseeing import and export operations, procurement, and logistics to support the efficient movement of materials and ingredients. This role ensures the efficient transportation of ingredients across international and domestic routes, managing shipments to manufacturing plants, clients, and handling global exports to various regions.
This position will also lead purchasing and procurement activities for manufacturing operations, including contract negotiations with suppliers and manufacturers. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in international trade, supply chain coordination, and vendor management to optimize costs, timelines, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Import & Export Operations
- Experience managing the import of goods from various regions and coordinating domestic shipments to multiple facilities.
- Oversee the export of products to clients across different regions, such as Brazil, US, Europe and Asia.
- Ensure customs clearance, trade compliance, and documentation are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Partner with freight forwarders, carriers, and customs brokers to optimize logistics.
- Monitor international shipping regulations and adjust operations to maintain compliance.
- Procurement & Purchasing
- Lead the purchasing of raw materials for manufacturing operations, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality.
- Manage vendor relationships, negotiating supply agreements and contracts to secure the best terms.
- Develop and maintain a strategic supplier network to ensure reliable sourcing and competitive pricing.
- Track inventory levels and procurement schedules to prevent supply chain disruptions.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align purchasing strategies with production needs.
- Logistics & Supply Chain Management
- Optimize transportation and distribution strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Coordinate with warehouses, manufacturing plants, and distribution centers to ensure smooth product flow.
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and improve logistics performance.
- Identify process improvements to enhance supply chain efficiency and resilience.
- Address shipping delays, supply chain risks, and operational challenges proactively.
Basic Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Procurement, Logistics, Business, or a related field.Minimum of 8 years of experience in supply chain, procurement, or logistics.Strong expertise in purchasing, vendor negotiations, and supply chain planning.Experience in manufacturing environments, with a preference for chemical, cosmetics, food, or industrial industries.Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP preferred; Oracle or similar systems acceptable).Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).Preferred Qualifications :
Experience managing F&F (fragrance & flavor) ingredients or raw materials.Background in global supply chain operations, with exposure to Asia, Europe, and Latin America.Strong relationships with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and logistics providers.Knowledge of Lean or Six Sigma methodologies for process improvement.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.Occasional travel may be required for vendor visits, contract negotiations, or site visits.This role is 100% on-site with no remote work option.Amyris is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices.
The pay range for this role is $94,000 to $158,500. Salary offers are made based on internal equity and market analysis, and will vary based on the candidate’s skills, depth of experience and specific work location.
