Van Der Hout LLP is a nationally renowned, full-service immigration and nationality law firm located in San Franciscos Union Square. Founded in 1980, our firm has grown to a dedicated team of over 35 professionals, including attorneys, paralegals, and administrative support staff. It represents clients in a wide range of immigration matters.

Van Der Hout LLP is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financial Operations Manager to oversee and manage the financial operations of our dynamic law firm. This role is critical in maintaining the firms financial health and ensuring compliance with all financial policies and procedures.

The ideal candidate is a proven team player with leadership experience, ready to take ownership of the role, drive efficiency, and implement standardized processes to elevate performance.

The Finance Manager will have a strong background in finance, accounting, and payroll, with a keen ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while contributing to the success and growth of our firm.

Responsibilities :

  • Oversee basic accounts payables / receivables (A / R, A / P, time billing, P / R, G / L, tax payments and inventory control).
  • Reconcile financial statements and generate profitability reports.
  • Process invoices, prebills, reimbursements, and client refunds.
  • Monitor bank accounts, manage deposits, records of assets, liabilities, and other financial transitions.
  • Manage client trust accounts.
  • Serve as company liaison with auditors (annual financial and 401K audits).
  • Review, analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts and investment transactions in conjunction with preparing quarterly reports for management.
  • Process payroll and file city / county taxes.

Qualifications :

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management or a similar role, preferably in a law firm.
  • A bachelors degree in a related field such as accounting, finance, or business administration, or comparable professional experience in a similar role is preferred.
  • Advanced use of spreadsheet and database tools, complemented by expertise in financial software, for effective fiscal management and comprehensive reporting.
  • Strong leadership and proven supervisory skills.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and clients
  • Familiarity with employee benefits administration and payroll systems.

    This role will be in our San Francisco office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence. The candidate must be able and willing to go to the office for work, training, meetings, and special assignments if needed.
