Salary : $115,000 range

About the Company :

Our client is a leading home improvement and renovations contractor based in Hilliard, OH. Renowned for delivering exceptional craftsmanship and customer satisfaction, the company provides a wide range of renovation services for residential and commercial properties.

Position Overview :

The Controller is a hands-on role responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, including job costing, financial reporting, and compliance. This position will manage one accounting staff member and work closely with company leadership to ensure the financial health of the organization. The ideal candidate will have expertise in QuickBooks and job costing, with a CPA designation highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Oversee and manage all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities.
  • Perform detailed job costing to track project expenses and profitability.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
  • Manage the month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with project managers to provide financial insights and ensure accurate budgeting and forecasting for ongoing and future projects.
  • Reconcile bank statements and maintain accurate records in QuickBooks.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop the accounting staff member, ensuring departmental efficiency and accuracy.
  • Monitor and analyze financial performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, tax professionals, and regulatory bodies as required.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA designation is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, including job costing.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks is required.
  • Experience in the construction or home improvement industry is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members, vendors, and leadership.
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented, with a commitment to maintaining high levels of accuracy.
